Myths and Misconceptions
One reason for this split between the JMU campus and Harrisonburg communities is all the misconceptions that the JMU students have about the Harrisonburg community and vice versa. The first step in bringing these two groups together is too dispel these myths and shed some light on what each can offer the other. Both are great groups with great qualities and both can benefit from this coming together if we break down the barriers separating the groups.
Misconceptions about Harrisonburg - "All Harrisonburg residents are farmers."
Misconceptions about JMU - "All JMU students are alcoholics and drug users."
