jMubilee

Originally called Madison Festival, jMubilee (jay-em-you-bill-ee), is an event that has expanded into a James Madison University organization that strives to put on events that hope to develop and foster community relations in a family-friendly festival atmosphere! This year we will be holding at least 3 events:

Skate Night

One night in November we will be renting out the Fun Zone and making it free for community members and JMU students to get together in a fun atmosphere and skate for free!

Madison Fest

Saturday, March 15th in Godwin Gym. This event will be held inside this year because of the unpredictable weather in mid-March (last year we were snowed out). It will be held as a close to the University's Madison Week events for the third year (again, last year's event was snowed out) which celebrate the life and legacy of President James Madison. This event is a collaboration of many JMU student organizations and led by a now officially recognized student organization. It is sponsored by Madison Week, the Student Government Association and University Program Board.

jMubilee

Friday, April 25th on Godwin Field (not yet confirmed). This is our newest and biggest event. In discussions last year we decided something our campus was missing was a big event to end the school year. This event will invite JMU students to celebrate classes being over and is scheduled for the afternoon/evening so that it is after most classes end and will end before most students start studying Friday night or Saturday morning. It will follow our usual format of having different organizations sponsor games, a stage with performers (hoping to book a few regional bands instead of just campus and local bands), free food and drinks, and will end with a movie on Hillside Field. The plans for this event are not confirmed, but are still in the planning stages.

Madison Fest & jMubilee

The jMubilee organization will work with other JMU student organizations and Harrisonburg community service and civic organizations to provide festival-type activities at all events. Activities may include face-painting, pie-throwing, moon-bounces, contests, and information booths. The centerpiece of both main events will be a mainstage run by UPB that will feature JMU and community bands. We have also partnered with Saferides and James McHone Jewelry for this year's events.
